M160 Tele-Operated Mine Flail

GCS3As part of the Anniston Army Depot Integrated Systems Response Center contract, SES developed the complete M160 Tele-Operated Mine Flail Technical Data Package (TDP) and National Maintenance Work Requirements (NMWRs) for the US Government. An $8M program, SES provided Level II drawing packages at the System and Subsystem levels for the M160.

The purpose of the effort was to enable the US Government to transition the M160 Mine Flail from a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf System (COTS) to a Program of Record (POR). The effort incorporated numerous facets to the transition from COTS to a POR to include SES performing a Line Replacement Unit (LRU) Analysis, a Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), all associated provisioning, and Technical Manual revisions. SES researched and identified all necessary Mandatory Replacement Parts (MRP) and provided a sustainable and supportable Bill of Material (BOM) to facilitate an appropriate overhaul. The effort culminated in the development of NMWRs for the vehicle, hydraulic pumps and motors, and engine. SES conducted NMWR prototype and validation events and ultimately support the US Government’s verification event of the NMWRs.

SES collaborated closely with the US Government early and often to assure absolute transparency and clarity of requirements. Initially the customer only wanted a Level II TDP but soon realized through collaboration with SES that a Level II TDP alone would not achieve their objective. SES’ deep experience, broad range of capabilities, and customer focused approach ultimately put the US Government in a favorable position to facilitate cost effective overhauls. The end result was an M160 Tele-Operated Mine Flail system fully documented and fully supportable by the organic industrial base in order to support the soldier in the field.

Stryker Back-Up Steering Pump

strykerAs part of the Anniston Army Depot Integrated Systems Response Center contract, SES developed and provisioned special tooling required to disassemble, overhaul, and inspect/repair, reassemble the Back-Up Steering Pump for the Stryker Combat Vehicle. SES’ efforts enables a Depot-Level Facility an ability to perform overhauls and other maintenance on the back-up steering pump for the Stryker Combat Vehicle.

SES revised, recommended, and substantiated redlines to the National Maintenance Work Requirements, (NMWR) which provides guidance for Depot level overhauls. SES conducted Validation and Verification efforts for the NMWR documents to ensure effectiveness and accuracy of the documentation. SES also developed a fully sustainable and supportable Bill of Materials, (BOM), leveraging commercial parts and components in order to facilitate Depot maintenance efforts and provide readily available hardware and other components for field support of the Stryker Back-Up Steering Pump.

Engineering: SES provided a recommended list of tooling and bench fixtures required to service, repair, and overhaul (or inspect/repair) the Back-up Steering Pump. Though not a requirement, SES provided the customer engineering drawings and three-D models in order to fully document the special tools required to perform maintenance on the back-up steering pump.

Provisioning: SES provided all supplementary data for provisioning of any items identified by the engineering support process. Additionally, SES assisted in the development of a provisioning parts list (PPL) file and FLIS screening to support the Government process of provisioning any tooling or fixtures that are required and are not currently in the Department of Defense (DoD) supply system.

M1A1 Stabilized Commanders Weapons Station (SCWS)

SCWSAs part of the Anniston Army Depot Integrated Systems Response Center contract, SES developed the technical data and identified the Mandatory Replacement Parts (MRPs) required to disassemble, to overhaul, to inspect/repair, and to reassemble the M1A1 Stabilized Commanders Weapons Station (SCWS). For SCWS Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and associated Special Tools and Test Equipment (STTE), SES facilitated the development of the Provisioning Level TDP, Level Of Repair Analysis (LORA), Reliability and Maintainability criteria, and LRU Overhaul Instructions with the OEM.

The purpose of the effort was to enable the United States Marine Corp (USMC) to establish an overhaul capability at Anniston Army Depot (ANAD). The effort incorporated numerous analyses to include Line Replacement Unit (LRU) Analysis, a Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), all associated provisioning, and Reliability and Maintainability. SES researched and identified all necessary Mandatory Replacement Parts (MRP) and provided a sustainable and supportable Bill of Material (BOM) to facilitate an appropriate overhaul. The effort culminated in the development of Overhaul Instructions for the SCWS System and subsequent LRUs. SES conducted Overhaul Instruction prototype and validation events to ultimately support the US Government’s verification event of the Overhaul Instructions.

M1A1 Multi-Purpose Tank Blade (MPTB)

MPTBAs part of the Anniston Army Depot Integrated Systems Response Center contract, SES developed the complete M1A1 Multi-Purpose Tank Blade (MPTB) Technical Data Package (TDP) and Overhaul Instruction for the US Government. A $1.2M program, SES provided Level II drawing packages at the System and Subsystem levels for the MPTB System.

The purpose of the effort was to enable the US Government to establish a Depot Level Overhaul Capability for the M1A1 MPTB system. This effort required SES to develop engineering data to be used for provisioning purposes for the MPTB system; perform a LRU Analysis; develop overhaul instructions; Update existing Technical Manuals (TM); develop a Preliminary Level-of-Repair-Analysis (LORA) to determine the level of maintenance and technical documentation. SES conducted Overhaul Instructions and TM updates prototype and validation events to ultimately support the US Government’s verification event of the Overhaul Instructions and TM updates.

Assault Breacher Vehicle (ABV) Stabilized Commanders Weapons Station (SCWS) & Turret Machining

ABVAs part of the Anniston Army Depot Integrated Systems Response Center contract, SES procured, fabricated, assembled, tested, and kitted the Assault Breacher Vehicle (ABV) Stabilized Commanders Weapon Station (SCWS) modification kits. Additionally, SES updated Technical Manuals, provided Engineering and Technical documentation support as well as developed New Equipment Training Team (NETT) courseware. A $17 million plus program with scheduled deliveries of 52 complete kits, 1 spares lot, Technical Manual (TM) Updates, and NETT courseware development. Key to our success was SES demonstrating flexibility and assurance to mitigate production risk by closely with vendors to accelerate deliveries from Government directed sources for various assemblies ahead of schedule.

Fabrication and Testing: SES fabricated all non-source controlled assemblies which included large mechanical structures, precision milled components, electro-mechanical assemblies, and wiring harnesses. SES collaborated closely with the USMC customer to mitigate issues with USG provided drawing package, assuring a successful first article. SES delivered in monthly lots of 10 kits beginning within three (3) months after the Full Rate Production Release. Upon completing base kits, SES procured and fabricated one (1) lot of spares to support SCWS fielding. SES supported government testing with engineers at test locations to develop and document assembly and testing procedures.

TM Updates: SES comprehensively updated all applicable SCWS operator and maintenance manuals based on the applied modification. In some cases SES scaled these updates to specifically fit customer unique requirements.

NETT: SES worked closely with the USMC to develop an operator and maintainer courseware Training Support Package (TSP) for the SCWS system. The TSP included Instructor Lesson Plan, Slide Presentation and student handouts to support the training activity. Additionally, SES conducted Instructor/Key Personnel Training (IKPT) for operators and maintainers. As a demonstration of flexibility and risk mitigation, SES aggressively completed an un-validated draft of the courseware ahead of schedule, at the customer’s request, to support a timely fielding decision for the ABV SCWS system. SES used the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model approach, thus enabling a solid risk mitigation strategy. This approach, coupled with recurring Training Conference Reviews (TCR), ultimately ensured the USMC was informed on status and composition of the training development effort real time as well quickly resolving issues. SES’ collaborative customer engagement is a hallmark of how we do business in order to assure a well-developed and quality product delivered on schedule and on budget.

Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Self Protection Adaptive Roller Kit (SPARK) II Mine Roller

GCS2As a subcontractor to Yulista Aviation, Inc. (YAI), SES fabricated and welded pieces, parts, and assemblies of the Self Protection Adaptive Roller Kit (SPARK) II Mine Roller system in support of Anniston Army Depot (ANAD). The SPARK Mine Roller was a compelling DXA4 requirement for the US Government in support of the warfighter in an ongoing theater of war.

SES fabricated and welded one-hundred eighty (180) SPARK Mine Roller kits consisting of six-hundred twenty-four (624) various parts per week over a five (5) week period, totaling 3,120 parts. In the course of the period of performance, ANAD contracted an additional nine-hundred sixty (960) pieces for a total requirement of four-thousand eighty (4,080) parts.

SES’ success was a result of collaborating with the customer on engineering drawings, detailed production planning, a resolute risk mitigation strategy, and an aggressive quality management process throughout the entire production process.

SES’ demonstrated performance enabled Anniston Army Depot (ANAD) to meet a compelling DXA4 requirement for the warfighter at a reasonable cost, on schedule, and assured quality performance.
